It’s a game. It’s a green education tool for kids. It’s Perfect Earth, today’s investment crowdfunding feature.
Background
Perfect Earth is the dream project for Christian Batist, veteran of virtual world Habbo Hotel which boasts 240 million accounts. He has also acted as a consultant on the subject to some of the world’s largest media properties.
Perfect Earth is an online and mobile social game for kids ages 8-12. Christian says the game will be fun first, but also teach children the impact of their actions on the environment. Christian’s plan is to start small, but he has major ambition for the long-term reach and impact of this project.
In 2010, Christian sought €1 million to launch Perfect Earth. He says he got “great feedback, but no signatures” which he blames, in part, to not being an expert in the capital market. He spent the last two years refining his project, including using new white label platforms which significantly reduce the cost of launching a virtual reality.
Perfect Earth Investment Crowdfunding Campaign
Over the years, many friends told Christian they could contribute to his project. When he learned of crowdfunding, he realized he had a base of potential investors, and a mechanism that would allow him to concentrate on building Perfect Earth, not financing it. Although Christian said over the last few weeks crowdfunding has taken about half of his time.
Christian personally contacted over 400 people in his personal network to kickoff his campaign. He wants people to invest for the financial returns, which he expects will come from dividends and a sale to a major media company, not just because of its ideology – although if you are investing just because it is green, he will accept your contribution. Further marketing plans include a press release and upgraded video.
