The rest of the Perfect Earth investment crowdfunding feature…
Crowdfunding is About More than Money
Christian was delighted when two people separately approached him about potential large investments. Both also want to play a role in developing the project. Like Christian, both are willing to work for no salary until Perfect Earth is cash flow positive.
Christian is also learning crowdfunding is about investing in your community, with people you trust. Investors have to Christian they are happy to invest in his project, instead of putting money into the bank where they don’t get interest or in risky stock market shares.
Crowdfunding Controversy
Early in the campaign, a potential investor sent a question through the crowdfunding platform. Christian’s response led to a follow-up question, and the process repeated itself several times. Each question and response generated an email to everyone who was following the campaign. Christian’s supporters were eventually able to move the conversation offline, but not before 10% of followers unsubscribed. (The platform has since modified the auto email feature.)
Instead of considering the experience a nuisance, Christian chose to take the feedback to heart. He updated Perfect Earth’s policies to be more parent friendly, including guaranteeing the game will be ad free and disallowing impulse payments.
